Supportive Legal Counsel
Kimberly arrived at Apple Street Law Office, P.L.C. with both career and life experience. Kimberly earned her Associates in Science in Paralegal Studies from Davenport College in 1994, the same year she interned at the Kent County Public Defender’s Office as an investigator. While working full time at a successful Grand Rapids law firm, Kimberly went on and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, with a focus on Business Management and Social Science, from Davenport College in 1997. She then worked several years as a paralegal for the Chapter 12 and 13 Bankruptcy Trustees, until she decided to become an attorney.
While in law school, Kimberly received awards for her excelled performance in Advanced Writing and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Further, Kimberly spent a year assisting people with disabilities, mainly facing employment and education discrimination issues, at Disability Advocates of Kent County. Kimberly graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School with her Juris Doctorate in May 2007 and passed the July 2007 bar examination. Remarkably, Kimberly accomplished all of this while working and raising a family, giving her a depth of experience that many fairly-new attorneys lack.
Kimberly has spent the past sixteen years representing debtors in bankruptcy cases both in the Western and Eastern Districts of Michigan. Kimberly has been a speaker at Bankruptcy Seminars. She is also on the Board of Directors and is the former President of the Debtors Bar of West Michigan. Kimberly is a member of the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Kimberly also formerly served as a council member of the State Bar Social Security Lawyers Section.
Here at Apple Street Law Office P.L.C., Kimberly continues to represent debtors in chapter 7, 12, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings. Kimberly also represents clients in divorce matters, civil actions, child welfare actions, and defending adults and juveniles charged with criminal offenses. In 2019, Kimberly completed Basic Interdisciplinary Training in Collaborative Divorce Practice. Kimberly regularly participates in various continuing legal education seminars to ensure that her knowledge of the law is always up to date.
Kimberly has been actively practicing in Barry County for twelve years here at Apple Street Law Office P.L.C. and is involved in the community. She is a member of the Barry County Bar Association and the Kiwanis Club of Hastings. She also represents clients in Kent County as well as other counties surrounding Barry. Call
